Hi, I'm Janet (most people call me Jan) and I am a full time professional photographer/studio owner based in the NW Ohio/SE Michigan area. I began my photography journey in high school and have been enjoying every minute of this crazy wonderful career ever since. In the span of a "few" years, I've photographed over 4,000 weddings, tens of thousands of seniors, families, babies, pets, sports teams, corporate work, head shots, and just about anything that needed photographed. God has blessed me with the most wonderful clientele, people who arrive at my door as strangers and end up lifelong friends and clients. I suppose that I shouldn't admit that I am not 30 anymore, but with all of these years comes the experience and knowledge that most have not known. I'm proud of what I have accomplished, from the first year when I was one of 3 women photographers to break into the male dominated field of photography. My counterparts in portraiture became close friends and mentors. I've tried to repay that honor by teaching and mentoring many photographers in the Toledo area.
Together with "on the job training" and many hours studying with the Masters at the prestigious Winona School of Professional Photography and at dozens of seminars and classes through the Professional Photographers of America, I've become the photographer that I am today. I am continually learning and adjusting and staying on top of the latest trends in photography, while using the knowledge that comes from experience to create the kind of work that you have dreamed of. I learned on film and I still love my Hasselblad's, but I also like the creativity of digital photography and what I can do in Lightroom and Photoshop. I'm a great mixture of timeless, non-cheesy, fun, beautiful photographic styles, mixing every facet of each wedding or portrait to create the most wonderful end result. I want you to fall in love with your images and be proud to share them with your loved ones and friends. I want to be the one you call when you need photos, whether it be wedding, baby, family, or senior portraits. I have been blessed with the most incredible clients and I never take that blessing for granted. We have photographed everyone from Steve Forbes to Bill Monroe, to a Lord and Lady from London, weddings and family portraits from Toledo to Oahu, Maui, Kauai, to California, Italy, Florida, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arizona ….and so many places in between! We've photographed some of the most prestigious weddings to the most intimate weddings and everything in between, all so beautiful in every way! Traveling is fun, but I love Toledo, NW Ohio, and SE Michigan weddings, they are my mainstay. We are located 3 miles north of the state line in Lambertville, Michigan, and we service most of Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana on regular basis.
Weddings, Family portraiture, Seniors, Children, Newborns, you name it, I can't choose my favorite, because they are all special in their own way. Again, I work with you to make your portraits beautiful, uniquely you, and something that you will treasure.
I am past president of the Professional Photographers of NW Ohio, served on the board of the Professional Photographers of Ohio, am a member of the Professional Photographers of Michigan. I taught photography for 33 years, and have won many, many awards for my portrait/wedding images in Ohio, Michigan, and West Virginia.
Who am I outside of photography? I am a person who will try anything I put my mind to doing. I'm fun. I'm real. I love my dog Jude and former feral kitty, Sockeye, gardening, creating beautiful acoustic instruments and I've authored a book that sells on B&N and Amazon. I'm not a coffee drinker, but love water. I swim, walk, and workout nearly every day. I can't stop time, but I sure can do my best to keep ahead of it. I believe that you become old when you stop doing and I don't plan on stopping. I love to laugh and joke around. I love music and play in a band whose music is played in over 56 countries and 250 radio stations. (that's in my spare time). I'm up to trying new things always. Mostly, I love people, I love helping and being a part of their joys and at times, sorrows. Life is good. Life is crazy. Life is beautiful. Life is a rollercoaster. It's life and what a blessing it is to be a part of it and so many beautiful stories.
God has certainly blessed my life and I am so very thankful.
